When you think of the month of February, what comes to your mind?

My parents were married in February. Kirk and I became engaged in February and one of our daughters was born in February. Perhaps you have some special family memories connected with February too!

For those of us who live in America, Valentine’s Day is also a part of February. We see stores, school rooms and sometimes yards and homes decorated with hearts and the colors of red, pink and white. Flowers, chocolates, gifts and cards about love, are readily available.

As we endeavor to spiritually nurture our children, what can we do at this time of year to bring important spiritual truths about love into our home?

Truths about God’s love for us and about how God wants us to love others.

To bring important spiritual truths about love into our home, we can see what God has to say about love in the Bible! Let’s take a look at three Bible Time activities that use Bible verses to help us share what God has to say about love with our children.

The first activity is primarily for little ones who can crawl or have learned to walk. The second activity is for those who can draw, and the third activity is for those who can read and write without difficulty.

Here is a brief description of each activity:

1. Hide and Seek Hearts Game

Three paper hearts are hidden in a room. Each heart has one word on the front and one word on the back. Baby and mommy search for the hearts and find them together. Mommy arranges the hearts in order and reads the message on each side of the hearts to baby with hugs and smiles. The message shared is based on 1 John 4:8.

2. A Heart Book and a Song

The Scripture passage used for this activity is 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

A Scripture Picture Book is made using 17 cut out hearts.

When the book is completed, the words to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 can be sung using the ABC tune while you turn each page of the book.

3. Scripture Hearts

The Scripture verses for this activity are many and varied.

Your children are given the opportunity to hunt for Bible verses that have the word “love” in them. A Bible concordance can help them find the verses. These verses are carefully written on hearts that can used as decoration in your home and for talking with your family about godly love.

If you are interested in enjoying any of these activities with your children, you are welcome to download the step by step instructions provided with this post. These downloads can be kept in the Bible section of your Bible Time Notebook.

Have a wonderful February celebrating God’s love for you and your love for one another! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
