Several days ago in my quiet time, I read the story of Christ being questioned about His authority. He responded by asking his questioners a question as to where John’s baptism was from. Scripture goes on to say:
“And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us:”
It was interesting to note that the chief priests, scribes and the elders seemed to be afraid. They didn’t want Jesus to ask them a straight question and they didn’t want to die for what they believed. Jesus, on the other hand, spoke out boldly and died for the truth. He chose to trust His Father. What a good reminder for me to trust the Lord and do what is right, regardless of what others do or say!
Have you had any neat verses in your quiet time this week?
