Bible Time is an intentional time of day spent with our children with the purpose of passing on our love for God and His Word to our children. The three key elements of Bible Time are singing, the Bible and prayer. And Bible Time opens the door for consistently studying God’s Word with our children. What a privilege!!

On the last post we looked at some books that can be used as tools as we study God’s Word with our children.

On this post, let’s look at some books that can guide us in the process of studying God’s Word.

These suggestions are resources that specifically encourage the person studying to study the Word of God for herself rather than reading other people’s thoughts and study of the Word.

A List of Bible Study Books

A Scripture Picture Book – (Daughters of Decision) This is a book that your children make as they study individual Bible verses by meditating on them and drawing a picture of what each verse is saying. This is explained in a former Mom blog post and is a great place to begin studying God’s Word. Recommended for little children and older children as well.

A Bible Verse to Grow By – (Daughters of Decision) This small booklet provides a creative way to study one Bible verse at a time, using a Bible, index cards, a pencil or pen and markers, or crayons or colored pencils. Recommended for those who can read and write without much difficulty, to adult.

My Meditation – (Daughters of Decision) This book encourages the study of God’s Word by using a simple 5 step Scripture Meditation Method and includes a journal to put the steps into practice. Recommended for anyone who can read and write.

Scripture Memory Coloring Cards – (Daughters of Decision) Each memory card includes a Bible Study on the back of the card. This study encourages further thought and understanding of the memory verse. Recommended for upper elementary to adult.

Growing in Christ Series – (Navpress) A thirteen week Bible Study that includes Scripture Memory. It uses a simple question and answer approach. The answers are to be found directly from the Word of God by the one who is doing the study. Recommended for teens to adults.

Design for Discipleship – (Navpress) A six book series. This series also uses a question and answer approach. The answers are to be found directly from the Word of God by the one who is doing the study. Recommended for teens to adults.

The Navigator Bible Studies Handbook – (Navpress) This handbook includes instructions on seven methods for personal Bible Study as well as samples and reproducible blank forms. It is great for expanding skills as students of the Word. Recommended for teens to adults.

If you find one of these resources to be of help as you spiritually invest in the lives of your children, or if you have other comments to share, I would love to hear from you! Have a wonderful time studying the Word of God with your children.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
